The positive: great action, amazing sets and directed beautifully. The story is full of mysteries that keep you guessing. The story is full of surprises and innovated and ideas.
The negative: I wanted to give this movie 5 stars, but how everything comes together in the end will have you going, "did someone else take over and direct and write the ending?" You never learn why anything happened and why the bad guy did all of the things he did.
Ten Tigers From Kwangtung (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Great film. All the great shaw brother actors in one film. Now add great fights, cool weapons, and you have a classic shaw brothers film. Any film with the 5 venoms and a guy who fights with a golden statue wins my vote. The one negative about this fiml is the story is a simple revenage film but it had to keep track of who is on whom side.
The Avenging Eagle (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure If you own any Kung Fu movie, this is the one to own! Alexander Fu, Ti Lung, great weapons, fantastic battles, excellent story and great kung Fu action. What more could you ask for in a movie? This movie is an action-packed ride, with a great story and, dare I say, acting. Yes, I know no one buys a Shaw Brothers movie for the acting, but this movie keeps you glued even when they are not fighting.
This and "Kid With The Golden Arms" are the two best Shaw Brothers movies ever.
He Has Nothing But Kung Fu / The Hot, The Cool And The Vicious [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Sometimes you like to watch a "bad" kung fu movie. You know, no story, no characters, no production value, just great fights. This movie is not it. I never was so disappointed in a movie before when I saw "He Has Nothing But Kung Fu". Yet I figured hey it is a double feature and "The Hot, The Cool And The Vicious" might be descent. WRONG! The fight are ok and the camerawork STINKS. Because of the bad camerawork you miss any of the action there is worth watching.
The Magic Blade (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is a fun movie and just the kind you can watch over and over again. Ti Lung, great weapons, interesting characters. This movie you will watch over and over again. Fun for everyone.
