Chocolate [2008] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A lot of people are overrating this. I actually got bored at times. I don't like the fact that they show her watching Tony Jaa movies and then replicating the moves. It took me out of the story and that part was kinda cheesy if you ask me.
Don't think just because you loved "Ong-Bak" or "Tom Yum Goong" that you will instantly like this like I thought I would. I still would give it at least 3 stars for some good fight moments, but beyond that it is not really convincing or effective in its approach. More of a rental.
Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead (product link) Horror / Comedy Tromaville at its peak, in my opinion. Very well done. Would have given it 5 stars [out of 5] if I appreciated the little musical scenes more. All in all, it was a sick f'in movie. Must see!
KWOON (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Decent kung fu. Not that funny and just plain silly at times. Extras were better than the eps in my opinion. If you have already seen "Contour" and "Undercut", I would maybe skip this one.
Masked Avengers (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Sorry, but this one is only passable in my opinion. I bought this based on the ratings. Not enough fights--mostly weapons, which is fine, but I expected a little more I guess. I am starting to be less impressed with every Venoms movie I see. Good examples for me are "Ten Tigers Of Kwangtung" and "Crippled Avengers".
Invincible Pole Fighter (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Completely overrated. I was actually pretty disappointed. I was bored and not so impressed at many points in the movie. I'm a Gordon Liu fan, too. To give it 5 stars is just way more than it really deserves.
Undercut (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy Good. Definitely too short, but has enough charm and special features to keep me satisfied. The comedy is kinda odd (somewhat like a Troma film or a Ron Jeremy porn) and the martial arts are pretty well done for the budget. I did not see "Kwoon" but am looking forward to more of the same if it gets better.
Pan's Labyrinth (product link) Fantasy / Science Fiction Could have been so much better. It could have been a trilogy. It's basically a violent fantasy story with hardly any fantasy in it. There are some great moments, and the ending is delightfully tragic yet leaves you hanging and wishing that there was more to see. Also, there was a bit more CGI than I would have preferred. Well constructed story, but it seems like a classic movie/story that never evolved from its embryonic stage.

When I saw the faun and the pale man that seemed quite well into the fantasy realm. Del Toro has insisted that he intends everything in the film to be physical reality - but the faun, pale man and other creatures seemed sufficiently fantastical to me...
