Bio: I am a kung fu movie nut. I don't know how to explain the way it feels to watch stars like Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Gordon Lui, Ti Lung, David Chiang, Moon Lee, Cynthia Khan, just kicking butt.
Along Comes The Tiger (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure It is your standard old school kung fu flick. A 'dumb' man sets out on revenge against the Black Dragon gang. On his journey he befriends a child and a government offical who was sent to take out the gang for peace for the people. There is a steady stream of fight scenes, to the final battle of the hunch-back leader of the Black Dragon gang. I enjoyed it, the plot is standard, and a bit wishy-washy but the fights are numerous which gets my 4 stars.
The Flying Guillotine 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I am a sucker for a Ti Lung movie, and in this the second film of the Flying Guillotine I am not disappointed. With action from start to finish, there is never a dull moment.
Shaolin Kung Fu [1974] (product link) Martial Arts / Historical The title is nothing to do with the action. I found the story line so disjointed, the fight scenes laughable and I probably should give the movie no stars. But I did watch all of it in one go, so it does have some entertainment value.
Don't expect anything to do with Shaolin in any shape or form, the title of the movie is a fake.
Showdown At The Cotton Mill (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Here is a great moment to see Tan Tao Liang playing an evil kung fu master hunting down the Shaolin rebels. He cunningly befriends the rebels before picking his moment to unleash his kicks on his surprised victims. Chi Kuan Chun displays his five animal styles to great effect, to restore the justice in the town.
Buy, Buy, Buy!!!! At all costs. Even if you are not a fan of John Liu or Wong Tao or Hwang Jang Lee, you will love these excellent kung fu films. Tommy Lee and Yuen Wo Ping direct the action, and it is one breathtaking scene to the next.
Dirty Tiger, Crazy Frog (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy Sammo Hung movie with witty comedy and fast-paced action. Sammo and a cast of hundreds want the invincible armor, a chain-mail vest, dealing and double-crossing each other until finally the invincible armor falls apart.
Ninjas And Dragons (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I found it very hard to watch. Not too sure if it was because the picture was dark and hard to see some scenes, or because I was expecting more from the student of Sonny Chiba. The movie was like kung fu mixed in with people from a 'freak' show. I was disappointed, expecting better.
The Bastard (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Fighting a guy like yourself must be hard in this, 'The Bastard'. A young man is used by an evil gang to replace the evil boss' son in jail, because they looked the same as each other. It has a very average story and action scenes.
I wholeheartedly agree. This is one of the movie I watch over and over. I especially like Siu Tin as the "sleeping" guard and the hump-backed apothecary.
Fists And Guts (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Lo Lieh and Gordon Lui go head to head in this action movie recovering priceless Buddhist artifacts.
Hit Man In The Hand Of Buddha [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure So strange to see Hwang Jang Lee clean shaven, and fighting for the good guys. Some excellent fight scenes.
The Iron Monkey [1977] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Chen Kwan Tai stars as the 'Iron Monkey'. After his family is killed for being rebels to the government, he roams the jungle and steals food from the Shaolin Temple. He is accepted into the Temple and then learns the difficult art of Monkey Fist Kung Fu (though the training scenes are not too demanding). Then pretends to be a traitor and joins the Government army, so he can get close to the General to take out his revenge. The story line is very thin, but it is action you want, action is a plenty as Monkey Fist and Eagle Claw have the final battle.
Iron Monkey 2 [1978] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Calling it "Iron Monkey 2" only because Chen Kwan Tai is the lead actor, is pretty lame.
Chen Kwan Tai is the chief police officer for the court, is out to solve the case of a murder, involving the Emperor, some kung fu beggar women, and a man looking like the Emperor.
Old Skool 2 Double Bill [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Snake Deadly Act (4/5 Stars). Snake style is one of my fave style to watch, and to have a whole movie devoted to it, I am very pleased. This has everything from revenge, double-crossing, and plenty of snake style action.
Shaolin Red Master (3/5 Stars). Those evil Lama monks are on the loose and it is up to Chi Kwan Cun to stop them.

Bolo (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I don't know what it is but this movie puts me to sleep everytime I try to watch it. Loading up on Red Bull doesn't help either. But finally watched it in full, and wished I was asleep again. It just wasn't interesting, funny, or enough action. The half star is for having a try with Bolo in the lead.
The King Boxer [1971] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Meng Fei helps out his friend, Jimmy Manfrei, in Thailand with the local mafia. But while Meng Fei is in Thailand the Japanese (lead by Yasuaki Kurata) have moved into the area and are causing trouble with Meng Fei's school and his sister.
On his return Meng Fei defeats Kurata, but later is killed in an ambush lead by Kurata.
Jimmy arrives to surprise Meng Fei but discovers his friend is dead. The final moments it is an all in brawl as the revenge is finally completed, with carnage everywhere.

I originally saw this in my favorite grind house theatre as a child. I loved it then and I love it now!
Bruce Li: The Invincible (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure When men dressed up in gorilla suits using kung fu to fight the heroes, it is very strange.
Fist Fighter (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Set in WW2, Chinese fighters try to keep an American pilot from the Japanese. Robert Baker (from Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury") plays a Nazi officer helping the Japanese.
The Fortune Code (product link) Comedy / Action/Adventure An all-star cast from the 80's, a Japanese-run P.O.W. camp full of characters with their own agendas. Sammo Hung is the boss of the Chinese spy network and sends Alan Tam, Andy Lau and Anita Mui to the prison camp to find the man with a code so the Chinese can access money in a Swiss bank account for the war effort. For two thirds the movie runs for a slow pace before the final ending, knowing where the code is and the fight to get out of the camp from the Japanese.
The Lady Hermit (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Cheng Pei Pei, Lo Lieh, Shih Szu fight and love all against the Black Demon. Waves and waves of the Black Demon's foot-soldiers get sliced aside. The coolest scene is at a country cafe, with Cheng Pei Pei knocking two chopsticks into the eyes of a thug.
The Avenging Quartet [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A little disappointed with the action on display with the talent of the four leading fighter femmes involved, maybe too many.
B13: Banlieue 13 (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Fast paced action through two thirds of the movie, then it sort of stops at that level. Was expecting more from the ending.
