Hotaru No Hikari (product link) TV Shows/Movies / Romance Attention all you Haruka Ayase fans. This is a must-see. Even though this is a comedy, you can see her potential as an actress come through in her performance. She is definitely one of the best looking females in the world. Actually the whole cast deserves kudos as it was an entertaining story. See for yourself.
Let The Right One In (product link) Horror / Thriller This was one of my favorites at last year's Tribeca Film Festival. Also a big crowd favorite. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this. It's a little slow in the beginning, but definitely stay with it. I enjoyed the second viewing almost as much as the first.
Cyborg Girl (product link) Romance / Science Fiction I didn't know what to expect with this movie. The synopsis didn't seem like much, but I still bought it. A really fast-moving movie. The action scenes were a plus. The two leads were very believable. I just really enjoyed it and look foward to watching it again.
Hula Girl (product link) Comedy / Drama I just watched this movie and I think I'll watch it again. Was kind of skeptical about the story but instantly became a believer. A genuine feel-good movie. You'll laugh, cry and enjoy yourself
Tenshi (product link) Romance / Fantasy I bought this off of someone's recommendation, now I'm giving one of my own. A different kind of movie where the lead actress doesn't have much to say, but all I can say is you won't go wrong with this one.
Daddy Long Legs (product link) Drama / Romance I don't know what it is, but the Korean filmmakers have it down pat with romantic flix, whether they're comedy or drama. I enjoyed this film immensely and didn't expect the little twist in the ending. Ha Ji-Won is one of my favorites and doesn't seem to make a bad movie. Those with emotions may need tissues.
Bullet And Brain (product link) Crime / Action/Adventure Didn't expect to, but I loved this movie. Action, humor, even a hint of romance; and when you think you have it figured out, gotcha'.
Love And Honor (product link) Drama / Romance A really great movie. Great characters, a study in human emotion. A movie that will surprise you with its simple story about the title Love and Honor.
Deadgirl (product link) Horror / Thriller A real different kind of movie. There's no explanation of where the story came from or where it is going, but it held my interest all the way through. It's not for people who get nauseated by this sort of thing--and you will get sick over it--but it's entertaining all the same.
The Vanished (product link) Horror / Thriller Pretty good after the first half. I guess you have to set the tone, but these are the kids from I don't know where. Not heavy on the gore side, but more on the setting a mood side. But all in all a good time was had by all.
Coming Soon (product link) Horror / Thriller New horror ideas are always refreshing. This is definitely not a typical scarefest, but the movie flew by without much of a lull in it. Even the ending was okay. There's not much on the slicing and dicing end if that's your thing.
My Sassy Mum (product link) TV Shows/Movies / Comedy Typical fare, but what makes it a little better is Aya Ueto, who always seems to be the driving force in whatever she stars in. A kind of shoot-from-the-lip girl who goes up against the Moms, who have their own problems but live their life through the kids. Sound familiar?
Wishing Stairs (product link) Horror / Thriller A great little cast helps to pull off a film about being careful what you wish for. The wish will come true, just not in the way you expected it to.
Saving My Hubby (product link) Comedy / Action/Adventure Bae Doo-Na is one of the best actresses period. In any country. She is so natural in every role she plays--drama, romance, comedy. Oh yeah, the movie is really good too. It gets to a hectic pace after awhile, never losing its momentum. Usually the baby would be the scene stealer, but not with Bae Doo-Na around.
Blood: The Last Vampire [2009] (product link) Horror / Action/Adventure I loved this movie because of Gianna, as she is known now. Very good action sequences, but the vampire monster is kind of hokey. Gianna's English is actually pretty good, and who thought there was an action hero in that body? I would hope there's a possibility of a second one to see if they can do better.
Bangkok Dangerous [2000] (product link) Action/Adventure / Crime Quite different to me from the Nicolas Cage one, as the roles are reversed for some of the characters. I just wonder why they would remake this when they had it right this first time.
Beast Stalker (product link) Crime / Action/Adventure A pretty intense movie. Nick Cheung plays a really good bad guy (huh) that's also spooky looking. He's pretty brutal but in an entertaining way. Sustains the tempo through most of the movie. One of the better ones I've seen recently.
Ba:Bo (product link) Drama / Romance A pretty good movie. On the sentimental side, but what's wrong with that once in a while? The lead actor is really good and Ha Ji-Won is wonderful as always. Almost a Hollywood ending but not quite. Sometimes the good ones have the strangest names.
Devil's Backbone (product link) Drama / Horror Del Toro seems to be one of the magical directors. Kinda' like Tim Burton was. I thought this was one of his best. Creepy, eerie, and a lot of fun.
4bia (product link) Horror / Thriller Wow this was pretty good. The first story was really good. Then the second one matched it. The third was actually better when it came to the end, which had a twist. The fourth was probably the weakest, but the girl was stunning. I enjoyed them all.
Ichi (product link) Martial Arts / Drama I had to give this four stars. I can't help it. I'm in love with Haruka Ayase. But she really is a great actress. From playing a cyborg to a very believable blind swordswoman, she has it all going on. The action is pretty good, the story is pretty good with some humor and romance thrown in, and one can only hope there is a another in the works. We don't need more cowbell, we need more Haruka Ayase.

The Host (product link) Horror / Thriller I just watched this movie for the second time, and you know what, it was pretty good. Some movies are just better the second time around.
My Wife Is A Gangster (product link) Action/Adventure / Girls With Guns All of the series are unique in their own way, with the first two starring Shin Eun-Gyeong and the third with Shu Qi. I still like the first one the best, with its mix of comedy and action. Never a dull moment. Never a dull movie.
Spiral (product link) Horror / Thriller Don't let this one get away. Sets a mood throughout, and just when you think you have it figured out... Great acting all around, great movie all around.
Martyrs (product link) Horror / Thriller Real different kind of movie. Not really a horror movie, but the closest way to describe it is a horror movie. Great acting and a great ending, which didn't seem like they were heading to it, but they did. Try it.
Clean [2004] (product link) Drama Sorry everyone, but I really liked this movie. Maggie Cheung proved that she can act with the best of them and can rise above the material. Her English surprised me and her French was really something too. She's one of those females that just gets better looking as she gets older. Not to mention her acting too.
Butterfly Lovers [Live Action] (product link) Romance / Martial Arts Hard to believe that anyone could think someone as cute as Charlene Choi could possibly be a man. A kind of Romeo and Juliet story, along with the ending. But I always enjoy "the cute one" in any kind of role she plays.
Painted Skin [2008] (product link) Ghost / Drama More of a love story than a real action movie, it shows us that love conquers all. But it's an actually enjoyable film with nice acting all around.
Diary (product link) Thriller / Drama I have to admit that Charlene Choi played her part to the max. A very eerie atmosphere was sustained throughout the movie and the ending was creepy too. No more cute giggly parts for Ms. Choi. She can play with the big girls now.
Death Bell (product link) Horror / Thriller I kinda' expected a typical slasher-type movie but was pleasantly surprised. A nice cast set the mood. Not overly gory, which is good, unless you like that sort of thing. Doesn't really bog down so you lose interest. A lot better than "Cold Prey".
Punch Lady (product link) Comedy / Action/Adventure I've watched this movie several times and seem to enjoy it more and more. I guess you can call it a female "Rocky", but not really. The fight scenes at the end are pretty good and the comedy stuff is a nice touch. I can't help it, but I liked it.
Forever The Moment (product link) Drama / Comedy A great sports movie that isn't always about sports but of the resolve that dwells in all of us. Seeing the real players at the end was a nice ending touch
One Nite In Mongkok (product link) Action/Adventure / Thriller I just watched this movie for the second time and enjoyed it a lot more. Guess being more familiar with the actors now you tend to appreciate them more in the different roles they play. Daniel Wu seems to be one of the better actors and Cecilia Cheung also grows into her part. The ending really makes this movie a one to watch.
Ghost Mother (product link) Horror / Thriller A lot better than I thought it was going to be. Never thought that such a pretty girl could look so skanky when she's in her ghost state.
Closed Note (product link) Drama / Romance Totally enjoyed the story, which moved between the diary and the present. Pleasant leads, pleasant story. Sometimes you have to put all the blood and violence away for something completely different. Kinda' got thrown by the ending a little, but really liked this movie and will watch it again in the near future.
Birdcage Inn (product link) Drama / Romance This movie grows on you. At first I was wondering why I was even watching it, but my patience was rewarded. One of those studies of the human spirit that we all need to offset all the over-the-top action movies. If you watch it, stay with it.
Cop Shop Babes (product link) Comedy / Crime A comedy that has its moments--and also Carina Lau, which is saying a lot. Pays homage to movies like "Silence Of The Lambs". Also has some funny dialogue--and Carina Lau.The cast is very good looking, especially Carina Lau. A pleasant surprise.
Gonin 2 [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Action/Adventure / Crime Not only action but a story to boot. Loved the RUN character. All the female leads were good. I guess I'll have to watch "Gonin 1" now.
The Machine Girl (product link) Action/Adventure / Girls With Guns Entertaining movie. Perfect for a night when you don't know what to watch but want to occupy yourself without too much thinking or analyzing a flick.
