I just watched this and I must agree the Snake and Crane and brief Capoeira was absolutely flawless however it was frustrating because it was too short.Very surprised about your opinion regarding fight scenes in Shaolin vs Lama. Huuuge cult classic.
Let me get this right: Master Kow (Chen Sing) killed his brother and ripped off his face just because he didn't want to marry Ching Lan (Angela Mao). And then, he has someone else to play his brother's character, right?
Next, Master Kow wanted to run the city that Tsang (Ching Lan's father) is boss of, right?
Master Kow uses the Tiger Style kung fu, right?
Okay, correct me if I am wrong, but I am confused: I didn't see Master Kwo use much tiger style. It seemed more like strangle style to me. Also, what's up with Kow trying to run a city that nobody was in? So pretty much he was bullying people for nothing?
Please feel me on this!
Maybe it's just me, but I feel these kinds of stories belong only on the Lifetime Network series "Snapped", and not a kung fu movie!
Lastly, as far as the fight scenes, they were good but weren't satisfactory to me, especially the fight scene at the end--too abrupt and not length worthy. So, two stars from me. Sorry kung fu lovers, not a fan of this one.

I gave this one three stars but I didn't care to much for this one. Not worthy of a second viewing.
The World Of Drunken Master (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure From one of the chorographers that brought you "Legend Of A Fighter", "World Of Drunken Master" is at the top of the list when it comes to Yuen Cheung Yan's style of movement. This movie is a must-see for fight scene freaks such as I am. If you are a story freak and really anal about it, this movie is not for you. I was not bored at all with this movie. DON'T SLEEP ON THIS FLICK!!!!

Avenging Warriors Of Shaolin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Give it up for Lu Feng!!!!!! Can anybody do what he did, acrobatically in this film? Or for that matter, can anybody, in films today, do what he did? Probably not! Mind-blowing fight scenes... this is one of the best venoms films around!

Sorry Xslave and Sgt.T I usually agree with all of your reviews and ratings but this one didn't do it for me. Fight scenes were great but the end fight was rather silly when you look at some of the things that were done before they started fighting,
(continuing you comment on Shanghai) And look at that, no one has the guts to refute my rant cuz they know I'm correct. YEA!!! :) And I loved this film too.
This is a real five-star flick! From the screenplay, to the directing; camera work fabulously spotlighting the intense "Mandarin Duck" kick, and killer fight scene at the end. This is worthy of five-stars. Also, I loved the premise of the heroic character Wu Sung (Ti Lung) playing, what I identified as a chinese-alcoholic Superman who knows kung-fu. This film also is worthy of five-stars because for a 1972 flick, not many movies now-a-days can't compare. Is that reason enough for you hataz?
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

I must admit I rated this one lower than it should have when I first watched the movie. I watched it again and felt it was worthy of 4-4.5 stars. Like you said for 1972 the fighting was excellent.Just wished the main villian was a little more viscious.
i appreciate the comment u left on my review. i think i may have shortchanged this film 1/2 a star. i agree with your review and i found no major flaws in this one. it really helps to know about wu song to enjoy this to full capacity
[The leader of the Five Hand Gang] Chang Shan (Tu Ting Kwang)says to Lung Fei (Yu Tai Fu)[Another member of the Five Hand Gang, also the father of main character "Tiger"(Ricky Cheng)] "Is your son's education more valuable than my safety?"
*This right there will let you know that you need to buy this movie.
Next, Chai Kai (Lee San Pai) [Also, Tiger's master], says to Tommy Lee (Xiu Tu) "Tell me who your master is and I'll spare your life." But they did give him a chance to speak, they (Lee San Pai and Tiger) just proceeded to "seven step" all over him.
BUY THIS MOVIE!!!!!

I love this movie just wish I can get a better print (digitally remastered version). Fight scenes are excellent along with the choreography.
The Death Duel Of Kung Fu [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I gotta' give it up to Eagle Han Ying to not only hang with John Liu and Wang Tao, but he outshone them easily in this flick. Don't sleep on this movie, and don't sleep on Eagle Han's mantis fist in this picture.
Heart Of Dragon (product link) Drama / Martial Arts I am going out on a limb to say that this was a big risk that worked. This movie is not for everybody but I'll say give this movie a try to see the different side to Jackie Chan's acting abilities. At first glance, I didn't like this movie because of the little action that was presented, but it was good enough in addition to its storyline. Lastly, I like the theme song, too, it worked well in this one. I am a fan of this one.

Oh baby, chaos pervades with utter delight. I'll euphoric. But I'm on the consistent frequency with Adam and the Sgt.
I agree with Adam, not 5 stars but I am a fan of this one. Your Doppleganger is like Heath Ledger to your Original jack Nicholson. Even Sergeants laugh!!!!!!
You rate funny bro, there is no way on this planet this is a five star movie. Some of the classic kung fu movies you rated lower than this movie. Weird
The Avenging Eagle (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Ku Feng needed to win some kind of award for his evil character of Yu Si Kwan. I think his role was just genius. Also, the English dub was brilliant, too, whoever was doing his translation: genius. The direction of the fight scenes, the brilliant storyline, and the choreography, all on time in this masterpiece. I love this movie.

The Challenger (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Since there are [currently] no [other] comments made, I must make one. This film is a good movie to buy. You can't go wrong with Phillip Ko Fei. He [gives] a grand performance in this film, even though he [plays a] bad [guy].

I'm with you on this one and have the same rating. The end fight was insane and fierce one of the best end fights on screen.
Warriors Two (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure First off, I would like to say that HKFlix is a splendid company to retreive some of the best martial arts movie in the world. Not only that, but over the years, HKFlix taught me how to become a better movie rater towards these martial arts flims, and I respect them highly for that.
The movie Warriors Two was a blast to watch. Leung Kar Yan had given a brillant display of the wing chun style; even though a movie like Descendant of Wing Chun was a nice movie, and The Prodical Son was a pleasure to watch, none compared to the eloquence Leung Kar Yan displayed on this flim. Casanova Wong had nice kicks to show on this flim, and Sammo Hung becomes one on my favorite martial director of the 70's, because he tries to steal no light from either of his co- stars in any movie I've seen him direct even though he's done all the hard to make good movies...

I agree with ya the movie is Amazing. And I love "WARRIORS TWO" but for you sucking up to hkflix I give this review thumbs down.
Millionaires' Express (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts What a big disappointment--I mean, literally everybody and their momma was in this movie. And this movie was like this!!!! WOW, you got to see it to believe it. Because this film, especially at this budget, should have been the best movie in history for all martial arts movie lovers. This movie, as slow as it was, could not make up for the lost time of the final scene. I am very, very unhappy right now.
You gave Forbidden Kingdom 3 stars and this you only gave 2 and half. Are you serious? this movie is great, did you see the fight scenes. I don't think you saw the movie.
Whenever Millionaires' Express is brought up in a discussion among fu fans there is always 2 sides- people tht love it or hate it. I found the film fun & enjoyed the fights. The fights at the end are terrific. & the stars being silly is always nice.
I have to disagree. The last twenty or thirty minutes is one long, beautifully chaotic, explosive fight-fest. I found the filler between fights to be more compelling than most kung fu movies. I'll admit, some of the comedy antics are over-done.
The Forbidden Kingdom (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I believe this movie is basically for young kids, inviting the young generation to respect the elders. Quite frankly, this is not my kind of movie, but the scene with Jackie and Jet going at is worth watching this film for.
Did we watch the same Forbidden Kingdom. because when I saw it....it was a big let down for every fu fan. This is not a 3 star movie at all maybe like 2 or 1 but nomore than 2 and half. Watch the real version of the movie.
Fatal Contact (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is a bipolar rollercoaster ride. So many ups and downs to make you go crazy, but it's an adrenaline-driven martial arts masterpiece.

The movie had some great fights but at the end of the day the story, acting, ending just ruined it to call it a classic.

Are you still in high school? This movie is awful and not even awful that its ok to watch. This movie is weak plus this rating is even weaker
The Iron Fisted Monk (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Wow, what a good thing to spend 90 minutes on. This movie is highly underrated and needs to be sought out by kung fu lovers; the ending fight scene sported over 15 minutes of insane entertainment. A must-buy! Also, it was nice to see Chen Sing playing the good ol' monk San Te.

I have the version pictured above however I'm considering getting the Hong Kong Legends Version. I also enjoyed the end fight a great deal.
Transporter 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I wasn't really ready for this one here! If Corey can make Statham fight like this, I am a believer of his work. Honestly, though, he kinda' lost me with the pole fighting scene, but it still wasn't enough to lessen the stars. I am a fan of this one.

The film is too silly for its own good. I know it's suppose to be a brainless fun movie but watching Statham trying to be a badass was awful.
Hero [2002] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Great cinematography (Christopher Doyle), great support from Maggie Cheung (Flying Sword), and great screenplay (Yimou Zhang, Bin Wang and Feng Li); I have issues with the Choreography: the flying, fighting with water, and the walking on water scenes made sceptical about the intentions of this movie: was this a martial-arts movie? Or was it a fantasy movie with little martial-arts? I believe it was intended to be a martial-arts flim, therefore, 3-stars out of five.

If you intended this film to be an martial arts film then you sadly we're mislead by the trailers. You should actually catch the film again with your knowledge about it now- your view should be different.
Good points. For me there was something lacking in this movie. I don't totally dislike this film but the only scene I care to view is Donnie and Jet fighting.
The Lady Is The Boss (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I am nostalgic for anything 80's and this movie was a pleasure for bringing me back. With the style of music, fashion and lifestyle, I was truly in heaven! As far as the martial arts--Wang Lung Wei and Liu Chia-Liang gave me a reason to keep my eyes wide open for the masterful fight scene toward the end. PICK THIS ONE UP!
The Magic Blade (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Yes, there is a lot of action throughout, but nothing that made me wanna' jump out of my seat and jump for joy. Nonetheless, this is a fun movie to watch, with a great storyline.

Agree good review you nailed this one. I thought I was the only one that felt this movie was a 3. I was not wowed by this movie either.
In The Line Of Duty 4 (product link) Martial Arts / Girls With Guns The storyline was kind of unappealling, but who cares? I had a blast watching this movie filled with stylish kick fights and seeing Cynthia Khan's eloquent display of those kicks--I am a fan of hers now. She made me give this movie four well-deserved stars.
The Iron Monkey [1977] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure WOW!!! UNBELIEVABLE!
Peculiarly crafted choreography; best out-for-revenge plot ever constructed in a martial arts movie. They put their hearts in this one! A must-buy for choreography freaks like me!!
Iron Monkey is not a five star movie so stop playing! 3.5 and on a good day 4 if I'm being generous. Not close to being as good as Prodigal Son, Five Deadly Venoms, To Kill A Master Mind etc those are five star movies.
The Warrior From Shaolin [PanMedia] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is another well choreographed flick from Liu-Chia Wing, not to be missed. This needs more exposure, my kung fu fans!

I dont disagree with you on everything you say I just rated this a little lower 3.5 because I wasn't feeling the hopping vampires.
Shaolin Mantis (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I'm so sorry, but I just was not convinced by David Chiang's character in this movie. At times, I felt that his ability to perform Liu's and Tong's moves was just not convincing, but overall it was a pleasant movie to watch. Finally, though, this movie would have sucked without the complements of Lau Kar Wing. BRAVO, MAN!
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!! You ought to be ashamed of yourself to say Shaolin Mantis gets only 3 stars. This is a four star movie without a doubt and nothing less. You are a funny dude.
The Hell's Wind Staff (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Insane choregraphy. If you miss this movie, you need to be baptized in the Nile River.

A comedy lacking in good comedy, however as you said the finale was pretty good.
Seven Swords (product link) Martial Arts / Swordplay/Sword(s) Great story, but in my opinion, it could of been 90 minutes or a little bit longer, but it was over two hours. The question is, did it really matter? No! Donnie Yen SHOWED HIS ASS IN THE FLICK! Insane final fight! This movie is some of the best Donnie Yen stuff I seen, and I have to give it up!!! Hands down - 4 and 1/2 stars out of five for me.
i have mixed feelings on this one and think u rated it too high. i agree it was too long, and donnie yen was solid, but i see no reason to rate this among classics. i must say i loved the soundtrack which is from a japanese man
Heroes Two (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I love you rater haters! This is the best Shaw Brothers production I have seen in awhile. Nearly non-stop action, great acting from Alexander Fu-Sheng, and a great display of Liu Chia-Liang's style of martial arts. If you don't believe me, then there is something really wrong with you.

the fights were good, but without the classic ghostface this film would be very mediocre. i think your rating is accurate
This movie should never get under 4 stars.People taking points away because of bad wigs? This movie is an all time cult classic especially with New Yorkers. I was there when they had a riot on 4nd St when this movie finished playing people were so hyped.
Executioners From Shaolin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I just witnessed one of Shaw Brothers' best movies and I am here to say: I am glad that I am alive.
As I was watching, I think it was pure destiny that Gordon Liu would go on to make "The 36th Chambers..." with his brothers because of how the first fight scene in this movie came about with his talent--wow! I was purely satisfied enough then, but wait, there is more:
The villian Pei Mei (Lo Lieh), wow he gave the performance of his life. So I've got to give it up to his efforts.
The fight scenes were nothing short of amazing, executed by the one and only Chen Kwan Tai.
I was also impressed by the spirit of the movie and I felt like I was in those times, too.
AMAZING MOVIE!!

Good movie but not deserving of five stars which in my opinion are reserved for the greatest of all time classics.
You know, I just watched this film the other day and I'm beginning to regret my 3 star rating. However the ending is still a bit stupid except the blood.
The Lady Assassin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is (in my opinion) one of the best directed martial art films of the Shaw repertoire that I have seen thus far, but as rating this movie for the martial arts, it is simply "not bad, not bad at all". The martial arts fight scenes were great--personally, I have seen better, but mind you, this is a keeper.

I loved the plot and choreography but I gave this movie 3.5 stars because the fights were to sped up and too much wire fu, Why do they do this to great movies. I couldn't stomach secret service of the imperial court for the same reasons. What a shame.
Dirty Ho (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Did I just not see Gordon Liu at his acting best? Yes! Did I not just see some of the most impressive fighting sequences ever? Yes! With all this said, Wong Yue didn't support or stand up to the superiority Gordon's performance - this could of been one of the best Shaw Brothers movies ever released! Overall, this was just an ok flick - 3 1/2 stars out of five for me.

Wu Tang Magic Kick [Crash Cinema 2-Disc Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie was all right, but I must tell you about the cinematography of this film. It is amazing and it brings more of a pleasure to watch this film. I highly recommend this film if you are taking a media aesthetic course. There is a lot to learn.
Shaolin King Boxer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Hooray Meng Fei, Chen Kuen Tai, you guys have made my life very entertaining. This movie is really a hidden classic. With the great fighting techniques, this movie is sure to please any kung fu fan. I'm very delighted to have this movie in my collection and I do recommend this movie for everyone to enjoy.
Tiger Over Wall [3-Disc Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure [NOTE: This review refers to the Goose Boxer / Tiger Over Wall double feature DVD by Ground Zero U.S.] This movie is surprisingly good. I really did not expect this movie to be this good for the budget that was given to the producers to make this film. And the funny thing about my review of this film is that I originally bought this movie for Goose Boxer, and not this movie. By the way, Goose Boxer sucks hard. (A movie which is also featured on the DVD.) The only thing that was wrong with this film was that Hwang Jang Lee was actually the main character even though he was the bad guy. This movie is worth a watch despite other critic views. I’m really happy that I have this movie in my collection because the fight scenes in this movie are crazy fast; not only that but this movie has meaning.
Gang Master (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Phenomenal!!! This movie is a hidden, underrated classic that I insist people to have in their collection; it's unlike any other martial arts movie with the same old snake, crane, Wing Chun, and tiger style. This movie brought different martial arts techniques; in addition, this movie offers an amazing story.

Bro this movie is hoooot !! The action is intense and the fight scenes are sick. The plot added to the enjoyment of the movie, One of my new favorites and I have 150 of the best, rare, and hard to find old school flicks. You definately slept on this gem.
Drunken Master 3 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Most kung fu watching fans would not enjoy this film. Well, this film didn't have many fight scenes in it; conversely, I totally enjoyed this movie. Why, because it told a beautiful story of (What I assume is) the boxer rebellion, and it started off exactly where Jackie Chan left off. The only thing that was different was the funny mother in part two had died which was Wong Fei- Hung's mom. Another reason why the normal kung fu fanatic wouldn't like this film is because there were unknown actors to the american eye deplaying who Fei-Hung was. There were many things I liked about this film; one was how Liu-Chia Liang interpret how a gay martial artist would fight, also the humorous comedy, and a well written story I must say. All in all, this movie was a good story and not many fight scenes, but the fight scenes were good.
