Bio: I look for fast action martial art movies. A five star movie to me consist of great choreography such as Legendary Weapons of China, The Rebel Intruders, and Long Step Mantis just to name a few. Further more about my movie ratings, I don't really look for story, I just look for the boxing.
I think the (HK Flix) staff is great to give us the delight to share our thoughts and comments about certain movies we select. Now, we are an offical community sharing with each other our love for film.
YOU ARE HERE:INTERACT HOME / I LOVE YOU RATER HATERS'S PROFILE
The Iron Monkey [1977] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure WOW!!! UNBELIEVABLE!
Peculiarly crafted choreography; best out-for-revenge plot ever constructed in a martial arts movie. They put their hearts in this one! A must-buy for choreography freaks like me!!
Transporter 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I wasn't really ready for this one here! If Corey can make Statham fight like this, I am a believer of his work. Honestly, though, he kinda' lost me with the pole fighting scene, but it still wasn't enough to lessen the stars. I am a fan of this one.

This film is waaaay better than it should have been, leaps and bounds above the first installment.
The World Of Drunken Master (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure From one of the chorographers that brought you "Legend Of A Fighter", "World Of Drunken Master" is at the top of the list when it comes to Yuen Cheung Yan's style of movement. This movie is a must-see for fight scene freaks such as I am. If you are a story freak and really anal about it, this movie is not for you. I was not bored at all with this movie. DON'T SLEEP ON THIS FLICK!!!!
Executioners From Shaolin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I just witnessed one of Shaw Brothers' best movies and I am here to say: I am glad that I am alive.
As I was watching, I think it was pure destiny that Gordon Liu would go on to make "The 36th Chambers..." with his brothers because of how the first fight scene in this movie came about with his talent--wow! I was purely satisfied enough then, but wait, there is more:
The villian Pei Mei (Lo Lieh), wow he gave the performance of his life. So I've got to give it up to his efforts.
The fight scenes were nothing short of amazing, executed by the one and only Chen Kwan Tai.
I was also impressed by the spirit of the movie and I felt like I was in those times, too.
You know, I just watched this film the other day and I'm beginning to regret my 3 star rating. However the ending is still a bit stupid except the blood.
Let me get this right: Master Kow (Chen Sing) killed his brother and ripped off his face just because he didn't want to marry Ching Lan (Angela Mao). And then, he has someone else to play his brother's character, right?
Next, Master Kow wanted to run the city that Tsang (Ching Lan's father) is boss of, right?
Master Kow uses the Tiger Style kung fu, right?
Okay, correct me if I am wrong, but I am confused: I didn't see Master Kwo use much tiger style. It seemed more like strangle style to me. Also, what's up with Kow trying to run a city that nobody was in? So pretty much he was bullying people for nothing?
Please feel me on this!
Maybe it's just me, but I feel these kinds of stories belong only on the Lifetime Network series "Snapped", and not a kung fu movie!
Lastly, as far as the fight scenes, they were good but weren't satisfactory to me, especially the fight scene at the end--too abrupt and not length worthy. So, two stars from me. Sorry kung fu lovers, not a fan of this one.
In The Line Of Duty 4 (product link) Martial Arts / Girls With Guns The storyline was kind of unappealling, but who cares? I had a blast watching this movie filled with stylish kick fights and seeing Cynthia Khan's eloquent display of those kicks--I am a fan of hers now. She made me give this movie four well-deserved stars.

Agreed, I originally got this because of Donnie, but Cynthia was excellent in the role originated by Michelle Yeoh!
The Magic Blade (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Yes, there is a lot of action throughout, but nothing that made me wanna' jump out of my seat and jump for joy. Nonetheless, this is a fun movie to watch, with a great storyline.
The Death Duel Of Kung Fu [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I gotta' give it up to Eagle Han Ying to not only hang with John Liu and Wang Tao, but he outshone them easily in this flick. Don't sleep on this movie, and don't sleep on Eagle Han's mantis fist in this picture.
1) I found it offensive when it came to some of the characters' ethnic heritage. I felt that they should've found some of those martial artists to play their own parts.
2) I found some of the scenes unconvincing, such as: the blow-up monk, Kam Kong's character turning his neck around looking for Jimmy Wang Yu's character, and Jimmy's character walking on walls on behalf of superior breathing techniche.
Nonetheless, the final battle was brillant, and overall it was quite entertaining. So, three and a half out of 5 for me.

don't know how to comment on this review but I'll say yes.
Shaolin Mantis (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I'm so sorry, but I just was not convinced by David Chiang's character in this movie. At times, I felt that his ability to perform Liu's and Tong's moves was just not convincing, but overall it was a pleasant movie to watch. Finally, though, this movie would have sucked without the complements of Lau Kar Wing. BRAVO, MAN!
The Avenging Eagle (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Ku Feng needed to win some kind of award for his evil character of Yu Si Kwan. I think his role was just genius. Also, the English dub was brilliant, too, whoever was doing his translation: genius. The direction of the fight scenes, the brilliant storyline, and the choreography, all on time in this masterpiece. I love this movie.

The English dub is better than most, but it is still better in the original Cantonese or Mandarin.
Heroes Two (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I love you rater haters! This is the best Shaw Brothers production I have seen in awhile. Nearly non-stop action, great acting from Alexander Fu-Sheng, and a great display of Liu Chia-Liang's style of martial arts. If you don't believe me, then there is something really wrong with you.

Two of my Shaw favs Fu Sheng and Chen Kuan Tai! Great flick!
Ong-Bak 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Hands down, one of the best martial arts movies I've seen thus far. His snake and crane just kills me every time!
The Warrior From Shaolin [PanMedia] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is another well choreographed flick from Liu-Chia Wing, not to be missed. This needs more exposure, my kung fu fans!
Fatal Contact (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is a bipolar rollercoaster ride. So many ups and downs to make you go crazy, but it's an adrenaline-driven martial arts masterpiece.
The Invincible Kung Fu Trio [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not a bad movie. It's a Shaolin vs. Wu Tang story. Honestly, I've seen better, but this is a good movie to waste a little time on. A must-see for kung fu lovers.

Three stars for me, however you're right, this is worth a look.
Challenge Of Death [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Sorry to tell you this people, but this one is way superior to "The Hot, The Cool And The Vicious". It would be wise of you to have this movie in your collection.
The Mystery Of Chess Boxing [Tai Seng] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Hooray for the kung fu sociopath, Ghostface! This movie is filled with bad wigs and good fights--a must-buy for kung fu lovers.
Heaven And Hell (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I would go out on a limb and say that this movie is one of Shaw Brothers' best. The story tells of what some Buddhists believe happens with death, life and reincarnation, and I loved every bit of it. But this movie is not for everyone, especially for those who do not know a little about the different sections of Mahayana Buddhism. As for the choreography, WOW!!!!!!!! I wasn't ready for it. It's a must-buy for thinkers and kung fu lovers. And watch out for Lee Yi Min, he is amazing in this flick.
Twilight (product link) Thriller / Romance Beautifully written story about a vampire's love for a high school girl. This is a must-see movie. I was pleasantly surprised.
Wu Tang Magic Kick [Crash Cinema 2-Disc Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie was all right, but I must tell you about the cinematography of this film. It is amazing and it brings more of a pleasure to watch this film. I highly recommend this film if you are taking a media aesthetic course. There is a lot to learn.

my favourite John Liu film! And you're right about the cinematography... it is experimental, but fun to watch!
The Hell's Wind Staff (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Insane choregraphy. If you miss this movie, you need to be baptized in the Nile River.

Can't beat the Hwang Jang Lee triple kicks! I love this movie and wish someone would restore it!
The Banquet (product link) Drama / Action/Adventure One star for the story and its effort, one star for the costumes and the beautiful colors, and one star for the unbelievable musical soundtrack, but otherwise this movie SUCKS--HARD! Yuen Wo Ping putting his name on this film was like Ted Haggard's sex scandal: it hit me hard--to the point of crying. This kind of stuff belongs in a theater on broadway.
Crazy Shaolin Disciples (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy I'll pay anybody a dollar to tell me what this movie is about! As far as the fight scenes go, everybody was jumping so high and so much in the air, it made me believe that I could fly--really. This movie is more of a comedy than a martial arts movie.

My comment explains the movie better than most of the other comments. I want my dollar :) I think they got a deal on tramps for this one.
The Iron Fisted Monk (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Wow, what a good thing to spend 90 minutes on. This movie is highly underrated and needs to be sought out by kung fu lovers; the ending fight scene sported over 15 minutes of insane entertainment. A must-buy! Also, it was nice to see Chen Sing playing the good ol' monk San Te.
The Secret Rivals 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I really enjoyed this film better than I did the first one. "Secret Rivals 2" was better choreographically than the first film. I recommend part 2 as the better choice to buy because it was more entertaining.
Dude, both make a good collection. 4 & half is the same as 5 man, don't hate on my reviews because you don't know how to review or rate. If you can see not a lot of people think u review good. again both make a good movie.
The Forbidden Kingdom (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I believe this movie is basically for young kids, inviting the young generation to respect the elders. Quite frankly, this is not my kind of movie, but the scene with Jackie and Jet going at is worth watching this film for.

This was an all right movie- But saying the fight scene is worth watching it does not mean to give it 3 stars- thats crazy talk.
Did we watch the same Forbidden Kingdom. because when I saw it....it was a big let down for every fu fan. This is not a 3 star movie at all maybe like 2 or 1 but nomore than 2 and half. Watch the real version of the movie.
Millionaires' Express (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts What a big disappointment--I mean, literally everybody and their momma was in this movie. And this movie was like this!!!! WOW, you got to see it to believe it. Because this film, especially at this budget, should have been the best movie in history for all martial arts movie lovers. This movie, as slow as it was, could not make up for the lost time of the final scene. I am very, very unhappy right now.

You are right on the spot MAN!!!! What a disappointment.
You gave Forbidden Kingdom 3 stars and this you only gave 2 and half. Are you serious? this movie is great, did you see the fight scenes. I don't think you saw the movie.
Whenever Millionaires' Express is brought up in a discussion among fu fans there is always 2 sides- people tht love it or hate it. I found the film fun & enjoyed the fights. The fights at the end are terrific. & the stars being silly is always nice.
I have to disagree. The last twenty or thirty minutes is one long, beautifully chaotic, explosive fight-fest. I found the filler between fights to be more compelling than most kung fu movies. I'll admit, some of the comedy antics are over-done.
Nope. You seem to be disregarding how well done and plentiful the action is toward the end. I also thought that there was enough humor and plot development throughout the film the keep things interesting.
I agree that the film was a let down, but I do think it had a lot of really cool fights and stunts in it. It was a bit bloated and meandering, but if you can look past that, I think you'll find the action to be quite enjoyable and noteworthy.
This is truly one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life, and that is no exaggeration!
Reasons why you should buy this film:
The Yuen family: Yuen Woo Ping, Yuen Chiang Ren, Yuen Jen Chiang, Yuen Er Chia. (Actually that should be reason enough.)
Watching Leung Kar Yan's Wing Chun style displayed on this film. In my opinion, it was better here then on "Warriors Two".
This movie is truly a gem, not because it was a great kung fu film, but because of the legend of Fok Yan Gap; Philip Ko, the Yuen family and Leung Kar Yan put their hearts in this film to let us know that. Also, if you raters gave this movie less than five stars it is sort of disrespectful knowing the work put in this film.

I agree with you totally, this film is a must have for any collector!
The City Of Violence (product link) Action/Adventure / Crime This movie was just too violent. I know the director tried to give his interpretation of what it looks like from the inside of violence, but I wanted to see action with style like every other good martial arts film. In my opinion, this movie was meant to satify the thirst of European moviegoers and not so much that of the American ones. So if you are American and you like European style filmmaking, well then this is the movie for you.

Ryu Seung-wan does an excellent job of differentiating South Korean action from Hong Kong martial arts. While I enjoy the choreography of the sort of HK films you prefer, the realistic action here impresses me very highly. It 's not what you want but...
this film wasnt all the european style and more crime and old school hong kong styled, which explains why the action is more raw and brutal and i believe that this film is actually not that violent
I did not understand your review, but I thought this was worth more than 3 stars. The story was good & the action scenes were nicely done for the low budget it had.
I didn't think this movie was suppose to satisfy European moviegoers or fans of Euro films. The director Seung-wan Ryoo is highly influenced by American films. The film shows a lot of American film references. I didn't find this film too violent ither
The Way Of The Dragon (product link) Martial Arts Bruce Lee's "Way of the Dragon" is one of my favorite because it was a well directed movie taken from the element of the screenplay. Not only was there a story told, but also there was a story told through camera aesthetics, this makes this movie more of a pleasure to watch.
Kung Fu Genius (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure SURPRISE!!! This is a good dam movie. Cliff Lok in this movie, is in my book, the most underrated martial arts actor of all time. Also, Wilson Tong absolutely outdoes himself with his martial arts direction in this film. This is a true classic--BUY QUICK!

Gang Master (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Phenomenal!!! This movie is a hidden, underrated classic that I insist people to have in their collection; it's unlike any other martial arts movie with the same old snake, crane, Wing Chun, and tiger style. This movie brought different martial arts techniques; in addition, this movie offers an amazing story.

The film went over-budget and it resulted in a very zany story & some bad action sequences. The film is not good just because the last 10 minutes is exciting. For a reviewer 2 rate a movie like this w/ 3 stars is inaccurate & a disgrace 2 real true fans
I agree with you on this. My Lucky Stars is a mixed bag of peanuts. It has a lot of zany & odd moments but the fights at the end saved it from being trash. I agree it's not so bad at all.
Prodigal Boxer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Wow, I was pleasantly entertained. I am never really let down when I buy a Meng Fei film... If you don't buy this movie, you should not consider yourself a martial arts movie fanatic. A good movie to keep for your collection.
An old schooler like me, actually saw this film in one of my favorite grind houses back in the seventies. I agree with you, great film, and good fights starring Meng Fei as Fong Sai Yuk!
If you say you watch the movie 3 times, then why didn't you watch this movie 3 times, it's bad. "Contour" u gave 4 1/2 stars it's the same as 5. Don't hate man because your star happy & review goofy.
