| This film is a mess. It's like they had the idea for a beginning and ending and had no clue how to get from one point to the other, so they threw in some training scenes, some emo cutting and flashbacks.
One would think that if you were able to beat all the masters of pirate school, you'd be able to beat them again at the end fight. One would also think that when you became the leader of the pirates, they'd tell you that they're actually assassins for the king. One would think that if you were going to introduce a love interest, and make it so obvious that you have a long cut to the bracelet Tony Jaa gave to her, you'd make it pan out. And finally one would think that if you named the film "Ong-Bak 2", you'd have more to do with elephants than a throw away scene where Jaa slaps the elephant on the head to show dominance.
Some of the fight scenes were good, but at the end of the day, if I want to watch drunken boxing or samurai fights, there are plenty of other films that do it better. I buy Tony Jaa films for Muay Thai, I'm not sure why he's wasting his time doing anything else. |
