Black Belt Jones (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Jim Kelly really kicks ass in this movie. Although the storyline leaves something to be desired, overall it is good enough to warrant the 4 stars. Mind you, it could have been five if not for the weak moments - such as the soapy fight scene where all protagonists are covered in a soap. The scene itself is good, but it drags on quite a bit. This is also the case in other parts of the movie. And please loose the 'tude already!!! A solid performance by Jim Kelly, somewhat weakened by the other actors which are far from cool - to say the least. However, you could do a lot worse than buying this movie (for example Death Dimension also with Jim Kelly - watch out for that one!!!! it sucks big time!!!)
Silent Night, Deadly Night / Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Horror / Thriller I really enjoyed the first "Silent Night" movie, even though it was a tad predictable. However, the second movie was utter crap!!! And it is not even a sequel to the first movie. Except for the fact that the main character (who is rather unsavory and unlikable) is the brother of the guy in the first part. I won't go into details but at one point he just starts killing people for no reason whatsoever (in the first movie the reason for all the slaughter is very obvious) and what has all of this got to do with Christmas and Santa Claus - I haven't got a clue. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't for the first movie being decent I would throw this disc away in half a minute.
The 7 Grandmasters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A great action flick with solid fight scenes. The story is somewhat repetitive at times, but is never boring. A great addition to your old school kung fu collection.
The Bastard Swordsman Collection (product link) Martial Arts / Swordplay/Sword(s) Both movies have a similar plotline and parts of them are really over the top, but I loved both of them! Great display of martial arts mixed with a fantasy element. The "Silkworm Style" in particular. These are definitely worth picking up.
