| Frank (Kieran Canter) is a rich young man and has a beautiful young wife (pretty Cinzia Monreale). After she dies, he digs her body out of the grave, brings back home, and puts her into his special room where he embalms dead animals for rich clients. He does the same thing to her body. Then, as a girl picked up as a hitcher by Frank witnesses him dissecting the corpse, he has to kill her. After that, as they (Frank and his crazy house-keeper) can't keep two bodies, they have to destroy the last one--an acid bath!
Joe D'Amato has shot many classics of different types ('Endgame', 'Anthropophagous', 'Absurd', 'Frankenstein 2000', 'Papaya', 'Porno Holocaust', 'Death Smiled At Murderer'), but everybody admit this one to be the best. Perhaps it's because the making of it was risky itself. You no doubt have heard about this. Some thought he edited a real operation into 'Buio Omega' or used real cadaver. But don't worry, it's not true. Although he liked to spoil appetites (he died in 1999) he's is still remembered as very talented director who has done his investment in almost every genre.
The film can even be called instructive. Don't laugh. If somehow you have a dead body and don't know how to get rid of it, rent "Buio Omega" and learn how to do it. The most interesting in "Buio Omega" is we have some kind of infectiousness here. May be it's because we subconsciously admit that, even on the operation table, Cinzia Monreale still has her beauty (it comes up to Canter's character's deeds). This story is about how deep the man can go into madness as the result of his private sufferings.
As there's not any suspense in the movie it won't influence on your mentality. Don't worry about what you'll dream about after watching "Omega". It's not that kind. Its success is that everything shown is very natural (I don't mean bloody scenes). There's not any mystic here or unbelievable turns in the plot development. This is the difference between "Omega" and "Anthropophagous". More sincerity in everything!
Get this flick. My high recommendations |
