| WHO LOVES KARA HUI? (34 views) | AUTHOR / DATE |
| I know I'm not the only one with a thing for this old school Shaw brothers starlet.
Anyways, she did a recent interview with HK Magazine...it's a bit of a fluff piece but it's here if anyone wants to read it:

| #2 | LOVE Kara Hui. It is a pretty cursory article, but is an interesting read nonetheless. Ironic that she considered herself old and ugly and useless at 40, beause she always seemed to me like she never aged.
From what I've heard, I think Lau Kar-Leung really pushed her body to the limit on all those classic films. She always seems to imply that it was too much. But damn those were great films, and no one will ever top her IMO.

| #4 | I respect and admire Kara for what she achieved. I also think that she does hold a bit of a grudge with Lau for pushing her. Without that however, she no doubt would have been just another pretty face. Lau pushed everyone to do 110% including himself. Even dancers have aches and pains as they get older especially if they stopped working out. Any physical job, repetitive or particularly arduous will take it's toll one day. I don't think Lau ever even thought about physical repercussions. It was always amazing to see her fight, especially knowing it wasn't something she had done all of her life. It's sad and a little odd she felt useless at forty. Even if she doesn't want to do martial arts any more she can still act. But I'm sure it must be depressing to discover your body isn't as agile or strong as it once was. I would definitely like to see her in some decent productions! | Cinema! 11/6/2009 10:05 AM |

As a guy gradually easing into his mid 30s, allow me to confirm for you that it is depressing. :P Sucks realizing that you're physically not able to do something you could do just a few years ago. | TheDenizen 11/26/2009 11:48 AM |
