| I bet there are people who have given the following topic some thought and have some interesting answers.
What is the coolest "old school" weapon?
That means no guns, bombs, and no particular styles, forms or strikes
My choice is the nifty multiple use weapon Lau Kar Leung makes for Jackie in DMII. It is a long pole made of bamboo. It can be used as a pole, or entrap an enemy's limb or weapon or to whisk it around leaving extremely painful bloody skin. Very handy! | Cinema! 10/9/2009 6:20 PM |
| #2 | Well, the most outlandish is clearly the flying guillotine!
But I think off the top of my head, my favorite would be the three-sectioned-staff, in the hands of Gordon Liu. | Choco 10/10/2009 9:02 AM |
| #3 | I am also a big fan of the three-section-staff. Close second would be the paired butterfly knives. | TheDenizen 10/13/2009 8:12 AM |
| #4 | Moon staff or whatever it's called. The weapon Gordon Lui used against some big time monk in 36th Chamber Of Shaolin before he created the 3-section staff.
Favorite intricate weapon, FLYING GUILLOTINE by far. | XslaveX 10/13/2009 8:30 PM |
| #5 | The Three Section Staff is great, but I'm partial to the Guandao wielded by Lu Feng in "The Magnificent Ruffians" with the other Venoms (He calls it his golden spear, but it appears to be a pole arm or glaive - a heavy blade on the end of a 5-6 foot shaft). I don't know if any practitioner can really manipulate such a massive weapon so fast as he does, but he makes it look great. | Jeffrey Frawley 10/17/2009 5:27 PM |
| #6 | What is the colest " old school " weapon to me? Two short handled pieces of wood connected with sturdy string or a chain. In other words nunchakas/nunchuks( police slang ).
As a kid I witnessed Bruce Lee use them in " Fists Of Fury ", the first martial arts film I ever saw, And at least for me they do the trick. | Sgt. T 10/21/2009 5:40 PM |
