“Za” overview: There are two things I look for in a martial arts actor and that is presence and screen fighting skills. And that’s it.
Note: Bruce Lee does not make the list ‘because his screen fighting is sloppier than a $10 hooker, diggity dog. Jackie Chan doesn’t either ‘cause his Buster Keiten and Gene Kelly shtick flat-out sucks! Though granted they do great films, I just don’t think they are that great. Sorry.
Honorable mentions:
Jet Li (Fist of Legend, Tai Chi Master): Fast and skilled but lacks screen presence. He looks like a sissy most times.
Yakuaki Kurata (Heroes of the East, Fist of Legend): BAD-ASS JAPANESE MF! UH!
Lo Meng (Cripple Avengers, 5 Venoms): I like him better as an actor because his facial expressions are funny like in Crippled Avengers but he has an awesome look.
Phillip Kwok (Hard Boiled, 5 Venoms): Another bad-ass with excellent acrobatic skills.
Donnie Yen (Iron Monkey): Becoming overrated but still his skill can’t be denied.
Mark Dacascos (Drive): It sucks most the films he has done were abysmal but at least he has “Drive” to his credit.
TOP 5 BEST MALE MARTIAL ARTISTS
5: Lu Feng (Masked Avengers, Magnificent Ruffians): I have a non-homo erotic crush on this guy because he is just so awesome in appearance and his screen fighting is flawless.
4: Gordon Liu (8 Diagram Pole Fighter, 36th Chamber of Shaolin): Definitely a skilled fighter and the only man who can make a monk look freakin’ sweet. GIGGITY!
3: Sammo Hung (Magnificent Butcher): He may be fat, but he’s all that and a bag of potato chips. The fact he is a fat-ass and yet can do flips and perform excellently in his martial skills is just funny and great at the same time.
2: Sonny Chiba (All his karate films): PURE BAD-ASS!!!!!!! THE END! STERIODS!!! ARRRGH!
1: Casanova Wong (The Magnificent, The Master Strikes): This guy should have been the next big thing, NOT JACKIE OR JET LI! This guy’s Tae kwon Do skills are consummate and his screen performances never EVER disappoints.
