ALL ABOUT THE MOMITSU DVD-V880N
The Momitsu DVD-V88N has the same basic functionality as the V880-DX, with the added features of 10/100 wired or 802.11b wireless network compatibility via optional PCMCIA card. These features enable you to do things such as listen to web radio wherever you are in the world, listen to your Apple iTunes music through your Momitsu, and stream MPEG-4 video files from your computer, for playback through the V880N. This player also comes equipped with a USB 1.1 port for external devices such as card readers, flash memory drives, and hard discs.
Please note that this is first generation, cutting edge technology. If you choose to be an early adopter, please be patient with the network functions, which may be frustrating at times. We cannot accept returns of this player for network compatibility and setup issues. Momitsu is already working on second generation firmware for this player, which will have a number of improvements including compatibility with RCE/RCA discs.
TECHNICAL NOTES:
With the V880N, region coding is already set to "all-codes" and copy protection is already set to "off" out of the box. Discs encoded with Macrovision will not upconvert to HD via component output. If this is a concern, please purchase the dx model.
The remote control included with this unit may cause unwanted interference with certain Toshiba televisions/monitors as it shares some of the same frequencies. We do not know of any fixes for this issue, and we will not be accepting returns for this reason.
SETUP & COMPATIBILITY NOTES:
A common support request we get is regarding getting output. If you are having trouble getting output, please following the instructions below:
- Hook the player up to your TV/monitor using the connection you desire (e.g. Component, S-video, DVI, etc.).
- If you do not get a picture, press the button labeled "TV MODE" on the remote until you do, waiting 4-5 seconds between each press of the button. There are 14 output formats, so it may take awhile to find the setting that works best.
- If that doesn't work, please consult your TV/monitor's user manual. If you have the DVD player first plugged into a switcher like a receiver, please consult the manual. It is probable that your device is causing the problem. Common issues: (a) The input must be specially enabled before a signal is able to pass through. (b) The input is not capable of accepting a progressive signal, or a signal that is in too high a scan rate or resolution. Most but not all HDTVs, Plasmas and Projectors will support the Momitsu's HD output. CLICK HERE for a list of devices that are confirmed to be compatible. If you have any questions regarding compatibility, please contact us.
- If you get a picture, but it is scrambled or the colors are incorrect, the component cables are probably connected incorrectly, or the plugs are not securely connected.

Also, please note that the V880N has its own separate firmware. Do not use V880 or V880-DX firmware in a V880N. HKFlix and Momitsu cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your machine with regard to firmware updates.
