With our modification, the Momitsu BDP-899 is the only Blu-Ray player available that will play any region Blu-Ray disc, as well as play any region standard DVD, on an NTSC (USA format) TV.
If you're looking for an all-in-one device that will play nearly any disc available, this is your device. It also comes with a plethora of additional features not commonly found on Blu-Ray players, such as USB input and auxiliary A/V inputs.

BD-Live brings you the next generation of interactivity, allowing you to download and stream bonus content such as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, movie-based games, and more.
- HDMI Deep Color
Deep Color reduces the posterization effect of the playback image.
- Upconvert DVD for enhanced picture quality
Your current DVD will look even better than before thanks to video upconversion. Upconversion will increase the resolution of standard definition DVD to high definition up to 1080p over an HDMI connection. The picture will be less jagged and more realistic for a near high-definition experience.

Some BD-video have the PIP (picture-in-picture) function which enables you to display the secondary video in the primary video. You can call up the secondary video by pressing [PIP] whenever the scene contains the secondary video.

BDP-899 ON SCREEN DISPLAY LANGUAGE
The default OSD language for this player is Japanese. You may refer to the manual for instructions to change it. Or you can use the following button sequence on the remote while the player is in "stop" mode or has no disc loaded:
- setup, right, down, down, down, right, enter
RECORDABLE MEDIA PLAYABILITY
The following media have been informally tested to work on the Momitsu BDP-899 using a Pioneer BDR-203 BD 8x drive with the data type as "BD movie":
- Verbatim BD-R branded write-once (Mitsubishi Kagaku IMa media)
- Sony BD-R write-once (Sony NN3 media - revision 002)
- TDK BD-R write-once (TDK BLD media)
- Verbatim BD-RE rewritable (Mitsubishi Kagaku IM0 media)
- Ritek BD-RE rewritable (RITEK BW1 media)
Optical Quantum branded 25 GB single-layer 4X Blu-Ray (BD-R) discs have been similarly tested and they do NOT work.
Do to the many variables present, we do not guarantee the playability of self recorded media, but we hope this informal test is somewhat useful.
This DVD player tends to make more mechanical noise than many other players and also runs fairly hot due to the dual power supply. If you are sensitive to ambient noise, we recommend putting it in a component rack that has a door in front, and is vented out the back.
